11 June 1973: Tanya Halesworth fronts the new daytime current affairs program No Man’s Land, from GTV9, Melbourne, targetted towards female viewers. TCN9 later launches a short-lived Sydney-based program of the same name, though the Melbourne-based original eventually went national — No Man’s Land [2023]

Because He’s My Friend: Karen Black, Warwick Poulsen

11 June 1978: ABC screens the telemovie Because He’s My Friend, one of six co-productions between ABC and American-based Trans-Atlantic Enterprises. Because He’s My Friend starred US actors Karen Black and Keir Dullea with Australians Jack Thompson, Tom Oliver, June Salter, Barbara Stephens, Tony Wager, Michael Long and 12-year-old Warwick Poulsen, who won a TV Week Logie Award the following year for his portrayal of an intellectually disabled child.

11 June 1990: The Nine Network premieres children’s drama series Elly And Jools, starring Rebecca Smart, Clayton Williamson, Abigail, Anne Tenney and Dennis Miller.

11 June 1992: SBS presents coverage of the opening ceremony of the Euro 92 soccer championships, live from Sweden, followed by the first match – Sweden versus France.

Followed by The FIFA World Cup Show, then the Opening Ceremony of the FIFA World Cup and the first match — South Africa versus Mexico.
