18 June 1971: ABC is the Australian broadcaster for the global television special Children Of The World, hosted by Danny Kaye in New York, commemorating the 25th anniversary of UNICEF. The Australian segment, produced by ABC’s Ron May, featured swimmers Shane Gould, 14, and Katrina Mortlock, 10, doing their early morning training, broadcast live at approximately 4.40am (AEST).
