26 October 1980: Channel 0/28’s (SBS) third day of transmission includes its first sports broadcasts — live coverage from Canberra of the match between Australia’s National Youth Team and Johnny Warren’s All Stars, followed by the Philips Soccer League Grand Final, between Sydney City and Heidelberg United. With 0/28 available only in Sydney and Melbourne, the coverage was shown on commercial stations elsewhere, including QTQ9 Brisbane and delayed broadcast the next day on NWS9 Adelaide and CTC7 Canberra.
