23 October 1964: Hobart’s TVT6 presents live coverage of the Miss Australia 1965 pageant from the Hobart Town Hall. The coverage is recorded for delayed broadcast on the mainland, including HSV7 Melbourne on 24 October and ATN7 Sydney on 25 October.

23 October 1976: All four Melbourne channels televise the eclipse of the sun from Ballarat. With the public told that to avoid eye damage the best way to watch the eclipse was on TV, ratings for the afternoon telecasts were huge.
