Former television newsreader Craig Campbell has died age 78.

Born in Melbourne and growing up in Geelong, his early media career was in radio in Geelong and Bendigo. He also had a brief stint as newsreader on an early version of Nine‘s Today in 1969.

He then went on to a long association with BTV6 in Ballarat where he read the news, worked in sales and advertising, and hosted the long-running weekly program Sounds Of Sunday.

In the early ’90s he moved to Network Ten in Sydney, reading the national morning news, before a move further north to Rockhampton for five years at WIN News.

He later returned to Geelong and took a career change into real estate and publishing.
