29 August 1974: The Sydney debut of ABC drama series Rush, the Melbourne-based series set in the Victorian gold rush of the 1850s. The series made its Melbourne debut the previous week. The first series of Rush was produced in black and white, while a second series, set in New South Wales in 1860, was made in colour in 1976.
29 August 1977: The Melbourne debut of Sydney-based variety show Keep Pace With Harriet, featuring Johnny Pace and Harriet. The double act were previously seen on the game show The Celebrity Game and in the telemovie All At Sea. Keep Pace With Harriet debuted in Sydney on 18 July 1977.
29 August 1981: ATV10’s annual Deafness Appeal Telethon raises funds for the Nerve Deafness Foundation. Featuring throughout the day are Network Ten personalities including stars of Prisoner, Holiday Island, The Restless Years, Good Morning Australia, Young Talent Time, Search For A Star, Fat Cat And Friends, Simon Townsend’s Wonder World and Eyewitness News.
