This is the TV schedule for Darwin on the night that Cyclone Tracy swept in and virtually destroyed the city before dawn on Christmas Day. The cyclone killed 71 people, left many more injured and destroyed or severely damaged almost all buildings and infrastructure across the city.
The force of the cyclone took both ABD6 and NTD8 off the air, although the time of night this occurred is not known. ABD6 was back in service after a matter of days — but NTD8 would be off air for ten months.
