21 February 1974: The first episode of police drama Silent Number airs on GTV9, Melbourne, a week after its airing in Sydney. The series starred Grigor Taylor, Elizabeth Alexander, Ros Spiers, Don Reid and Deryck Barnes. Silent Number was produced for the Nine Network but was in part funded by a consortium of regional stations, utilising studio facilities at regional stations WIN4, Wollongong, and NBN3, Newcastle.
