4 June 1960: ABC launches its Hobart station — ABT2. This completes the roll-out of ABC television to every state capital city: TV comes to Hobart.

4 June 2006: After 12 years, the final episode of Blue Heelers is given a prime timeslot of 8.30pm Sunday. The series comes to an end after 510 episodes — equalling the record set by Homicide that ran from 1964 to 1977. Blue Heelers made a star of newcomer Lisa McCune, who went on to win four TV Week Gold Logies for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. Her co-star John Wood was nominated for Gold ten times before finally winning in 2006.
