Network Ten has announced the appointment of Mike Munro to present its weekend Ten Eyewitness News bulletins.
He presents his first bulletin on Sunday 9 February.
For the Logie award-winning journalist it’s a return to an old stomping ground:
“Joining Ten is like coming home. After having started as a copy boy in newspapers, where I stayed for seven years, Ten was my first job in television as a 25-year-old. And then, after a number of years as a newspaper correspondent in New York, I returned to Ten in 1982, when the spark for television was really ignited. It was at Ten where I learned the difference in writing styles between newspapers and TV. There is no doubt that because of Ten, I fell in love with television journalism.
“My new role as Weekend Presenter of Ten Eyewitness News comes at a time when Hamish McLennan, and all his team at Ten, are making great progress in lifting the quality, impact and performance of the network’s News bulletins across the day and at night.”
Munro has also been a high-profile journalist and presenter for the Nine and Seven networks, with credits including Willesee, A Current Affair, National Nine News, 60 Minutes, This Is Your Life, Missing Persons Unit and Sunday Night.
When reporting for Willesee he won the TV Week Logie Award for Reporter Of The Year in 1985.
Congrats Mike + Ten Wardrobe Department. I saw Mike on the weekend news tonight (28/06/2014). Not for the first time. Your tie was perfect colour + tidily tied + tight enough to reach your shirt collar. Your mike was well placed on a darkish background on your lapel. No distractions. 9/10. Younger guys (including those appearing on the same news segment) need to take heed of these remarks. They don’t shape up nearly as well.
Cheers
Paul
Beautiful one day. Perfect the next. Sustained performance if Saturday 5/07 is anything to go by.
PS – I’m a Blues Supporter in NRL State of Origin. But love Queensland.
