Official opening of Perth’s second commercial station, STW9. The station is declared open by Western Australian Premier David Brand at 5.55pm. The Premier’s opening speech is replayed during STW9’s first news bulletin at 9.30pm.
At 8.30pm, STW9 screens the musical special TV Spells Magic, the program that heralded the opening of Sydney channel TEN10 two months earlier.
