It’s Melbourne Cup Day, but with no direct TV link to the west coast, there is no Western Australian TV coverage of the ‘race that stops a nation’. Viewers would instead have to wait for film to be delivered for broadcast 24 hours later.
ABC’s variety show Folk Cellar includes hosting by James Smillie and a performance by Perth-based folk group The Wayfarers — both recent contestants on the national talent quest program Showcase ’65.
