The GTV9 Yooralla telethon was an annual event from 1959 to 1979, raising funds for the Yooralla school for children with a disability. The 1977 telethon was officially opened by newsreader Eric Pearce. Nine Network personalities to appear through the day included Don Lane, Mike Walsh, Daryl Somers, Paul Hogan and Bert Newton.

The 1977 telethon raised a total of $594,741.21
