Landmark US mini-series Roots makes its debut in Perth — almost two years after its appearance in the Australian eastern states. Ironically, regional station BTW3/GSW9 was already up to the follow up special, Roots — One Year Later.

Another regional station, GTW11 Geraldton, began its screening of Roots the following night.
