Friday 24 September 1993 — SYDNEY

The Seven and Nine networks cross live to Monte Carlo for six hours of coverage of the International Olympic Committee’s announcement of Sydney as the host city of the 2000 Olympic Games. Sydney was up against competing bids from Beijing, Berlin, Istanbul and Manchester. The Ten Network presents live coverage between 2.30am and 5am with updates during the morning repeat of Sports Tonight at 6am.
