The Victorian Football League (VFL) launches its 1959 season and, as per the previous two seasons, Melbourne’s three TV channels are permitted to televise the final quarter of play of selected matches.
Each TV station has to pay the VFL a fee of £150 per match for home-and-away games – with the two playing clubs receiving £50 each and the ground collecting £50.
