Wednesday 10 August 1960 — MELBOURNE

ABC presents the play The Square Ring, the story of the conflicting emotions of six boxers preparing for their evening fights. Scripted by Adelaide writer Ralph Peterson, The Square Ring cast included Edward Hepple, John Fegan, Owen Weingott, Ken Goodlet, Ben Gabriel and Max Osbiston.

The play was originally performed and broadcast by ABC in Sydney in April that year.

Earlier in the afternoon, actors Gordon Chater, Ruth Cracknell, Willie Fennell, Dorothy Dunkley and Al Thomas (the latter who also features in The Square Ring) are guests on Woman’s World to discuss the art of comedy — and Children’s TV Club features “Mr Jolly Squiggle” with entertaining drawings.
