The debut of Nine’s new soapie Starting Out, replacing The Young Doctors. The new series, from the Grundy Organisation, centred around a group of first year medical students. The cast included John Hamblin, Jill Forster, Suzy Gashler, Peter O’Brien, David Clencie, Tottie Goldsmith, Gerard Maguire, Maurie Fields, Rowena Mohr, Paul Williams, Yves Stening, Colin Vancao, Leander Brett, Marie Redshaw, John Higginson and Nikki Coghill. The series had a short life and was soon cancelled with its remaining episodes played out over the summer break.

Seven begins a re-run of US mini-series Holocaust, while Ten screens a news special, The Royals, with an update on the royal tour of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
