With the 1987 ratings season coming to a close, one of Seven’s last big guns for the year was the two-part mini series Nancy Wake, based on the true story of the Australian World War 2 heroine tagged by the Gestapo as the “White Mouse”. The series starred Noni Hazlehurst in the title role.
Over at Ten, You’ve Got To Be Joking was a Candid Camera-type program that was to be the star vehicle for Don Lane’s return to television after three years. The weekly show was not a hit, and neither was Lane’s follow up project, the variety show Late Night Australia that had a brief run in 1988.
