TV Week has announced its nominations for the 65th TV Week Logie Awards, to be presented at The Star, Sydney, on 3 August and broadcast on the Seven Network.

Nominees for the Gold Logie are Ally Langdon and Hamish Blake from the Nine Network, Julia Morris and Poh Ling Yeow from Network Ten, Lisa Millar from ABC and Sonia Kruger and Lynne McGranger from the Seven Network. McGranger could be seen as a favourite as the veteran Home And Away star has recently stepped away from the series after a marathon 33-year run.

There are multiple nominations for series including The Newsreader, Territory, Colin From Accounts, Fisk, The Twelve, Apple Cider Vinegar, Good Cop/Bad Cop and Austin.

Sam Pang from Sam Pang Tonight, The Front Bar and Have You Been Paying Attention? will host the awards for the third consecutive year.

This year marks the introduction of a new award, The Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter (replacing the category Best News or Public Affairs Presenter), joining the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent and the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter. While there is no questioning Martin’s credentials — including 60 Minutes, Midday, A Current Affair, numerous documentaries and specials and winning five Gold Logies — it is unusual to name an award in tribute to someone still living. The Graham Kennedy award was named in 2006, and the Bert Newton award in 2022 — both after they had died. From 1969, the Best New Talent award was named in memory of comedian George Wallace Jnr, who died in 1968.

The list of nominations continue to be derived from a discreet process between event organisers and the networks. From the shortlist of nominations, the public can vote for the winners via the Logies’ website: vote.tvweeklogies.com.au.

Still to be announced is the recipient of this year’s TV Week Logie Awards Hall Of Fame.
