Gary Carvolth, former radio and television personality in Perth, has died at age 85.
By the age of 20, he was a presenter on one of Perth’s first pop music shows, Club Seventeen, winning two TV Week Logies for his popularity with Western Australian viewers.

He went on to host In Perth Tonight, children’s show What In The World and quiz show $50,000 Letterbox. He was a panellist on World Of Football and a regular on TVW7’s annual Telethon.
He was also responsible for securing a series of exclusive interviews for TVW7 with boxing great Muhammad Ali ahead of his world championship fight in Kuala Lumpur in 1975.
In later years he was better known for his long association in radio at Perth station 6PR. His former 6PR co-host Jenny Seaton paid tribute on Facebook: “What can you say that is enough to have had the privilege of working with and being a friend for so long as a team on radio 6PR on afternoons for a number of years…Gary was always the naughty boy with his wicked but truly innocent style of humour.”
Outside of media, he was an accomplished MC, hosting events including the welcome home parades for Olympic and Paralympic athletes after the Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 Games.
