Rachael Carpani, best known from the long-running outback drama McLeod’s Daughters, has died at age 45.
In a statement posted on social media by her sister, Georgia: “It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday 7th December. The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements.”

Early television credits included the telemovie Ihaka: Blunt Instrument and guest roles in Home And Away and All Saints. Then for seven years she played the part of Jodi Fountain in McLeod’s Daughters for 179 episodes. She was nominated for Silver and Gold Logies at the TV Week Logie Awards in 2007.
After McLeod’s Daughters, she starred in US dramas Against The Wall and Cane. Other US credits included Stalker, Touched By Romance, NCIS Los Angeles, VC Andrews’ Dollanganger Saga and The Rachels.

She later starred in the Australia-New Zealand series 800 Words and featured in a short run last year in Home And Away.
Movie credits included Hating Alison Ashley, The Way Back, The Umbrella Man and The Very Excellent Mr Dundee.
