Arthur Higgins, former radio and television journalist and presenter, has died at age 85.
Born in the United Kingdom, he came with his family to Australia and he got his first media job at Brisbane radio station 4BH and eventually made the move to television to QTQ9. One of his earliest memories at Nine was during the moon landing telecast. “I had to sit there and monitor it incase anything went wrong. We lost the picture so I had to take over and talk about this exciting event, live,” he later recalled.

He then moved to 2GB in Sydney then in 1975 to GTV9 in Melbourne, where he stayed for 14 years as a reporter and presenter. As a reporter he covered the America’s Cup, Olympic Games and Wimbledon.
He also worked at ABC News and Ten Eyewitness News and at Melbourne radio stations 3UZ, 3AW, 3DB, 3AK and Vision Australia Radio.
