Sunday 31 December 2000 — MELBOURNE

While New Year’s Eve twelve months earlier was a global TV affair, coverage going into 2001 was a little more subdued — limited to just Sydney’s fireworks display, across both Nine and Ten networks.

SBS maintains its traditional New Year’s Eve broadcast of the classic German comedy Dinner For One.

Digital television was also due to start at midnight but with few digital receivers in the market it was introduced with barely a mention.

(This listing excludes community Channel 31 which is not listed in TV Week)
