Carols By Candlelight is telecast live for the first time in over a decade. (GTV9 had last telecast it in 1956 as part of its pre-launch test transmissions) Hosting from the Sidney Myer Music Bowl is Phil Gibbs with performances by Johnny Farnham, Robert Leeman, Aurora Muratti, Julie Raines, Ian McNeill and a 200-strong choir.

ATV0 would go on to be the host broadcaster for Carols By Candlelight for a decade, with the telecast rights taken over by the Nine Network in 1979.
