Sunday 18 July 1976 — MELBOURNE

Opening Ceremony from the Olympic Games in Montreal, with ABC, Seven and Nine presenting joint coverage — though the Nine Network branched out of the co-operative effort to provide overnight coverage of the competition as reports and film of events becomes available, whereas ABC and Seven were limiting daily event coverage to highlights packages screened several times a day, starting Monday 19 July.

The 0-10 Network restricting its Olympic coverage to updates during the main evening news bulletin.
