The first full day of colour transmission, following the official changeover at midnight.

ABC’s first night of colour television includes a repeat of the episode of Countdown which aired at midnight, and later presents the special Colour It Music, featuring Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, the Australian Ballet, Claire Poole Singers, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Judy Stone, Daryl Braithwaite and Sonia Hanks — presented from the Sydney Opera House.

Nine’s live coverage of the opening concert for Melbourne’s Moomba festival is hosted by Jimmy Hannan and features performances by Johnny Farnham, Denise Drysdale, Heathermae Redding, James Pegler and the Joe Latona Dancers.
